Jaunice Check Up
Lincoln's jaundice level was 9.4 so no more blue light! He also lost another ounce. Dr. Matusic said that it was fine as long as he was eating okay and not seeming hungry after. He goes back next Friday for his 2 week check-up.

One week old today!
I cannot believe Andrew and I have been parents for a week already. We had to take Lincoln to have his jaundice checked on Tuesday. His jaundice level was 14.7 so he has had to be hooked up to a bilirubin light on his back 24 hrs a day for 3 days. It was so hard to feed him and hold him. He weighed 7.13 pounds and they said everything else looks good. Tomorrow we will take him back and hopefully everything will be fine. On Wednesday we took him to have his PKU test done. He didn't even cry or anything when they stuck him. I was so happy because I don't think I could have stood it. Breastfeeding is going good so far even though I don't think I will ever be able to do it in public. Usually he only cries when he is hungry or a dirty diaper. It's true about boys peeing everywhere and I had no idea how many clothes we would go through and it's only been a week.
So far his two biggest fans are Uncle Corey and Uncle Jeff.
I never knew I could love someone as much as I love him. I couldn't ever imagine my life without him. He has changed my life so much already and I cannot wait to see what mine and Andrew's journey with him holds.
One week old:
Lincoln's Birth Story
Thursday April 16th (38 weeks 3 days) I went to the doctor, my mom met Andrew and I there. I had gained one pound (total weight during pregnancy - 39 pounds). I was hooked up to the machine and was having some contractions but nothing major. Dr. Naegele checked me and I was at 4 cm. (That was very painful!) He told us to go get something to eat and walk. We went to McDonald's for breakfast and then to the mall to walk for an hour. We walked fast! When we got back to the doctor I was hooked back up to the machine and then checked again. I was at 5 cm! (very painful) I couldn't believe I was 5 cm and wasn't feeling anything. Dr. Naegele then wrote up my admission to the hospital. He wrote on the order that I was in active labor and I could have an epidural any time I wanted. I couldn't believe this because I felt normal. We got everything out of the car, I called work and a couple friends and walked over to be admitted. I was admitted around 12:30. My mom and Andrew had to wait while I got an IV and all set up. The nurse had to do the IV twice which wasn't very fun. Andrew and my Mom finally came int the room probably a little after 1. Andrew's mom came down to the hospital as well as Daddy, Corey, Momaw and Popaw after Joey's funeral. At 2 o'clock Dr. Naegele came in and I was 5-6 cm and he broke my water. It didn't hurt at all. Barbara and my mom was in the room for this, Andrew was out of the room getting something to eat. I still wasn't feeling anything. They started the pitocin drip. My nurse came in at 3 and I was 6-7 cm dilated. I started feeling some pain at this point. At 3:45 I decided to request an epidural. The nurse was really talking me into it, I think I could have gone longer without it. The anesthesiologist came in around 4. I ended up having to get the epidural done twice because only my right side was numb and both pumps they tried was broke. Finally around 5 my left side started to feel numb. At 6:45 I was dilated to 10 and 100% effaced. The nurse lifted the bed up to where I was sitting straight up to get the baby to drop. I was in a lot of pain and I think I could feel almost everything. Around 7:45 I told Andrew and my mom I had to push now and Andrew called for the nurse. The nurse came in and I started pushing at every contraction. They didn't have to tell me when to push I just knew when too. Andrew and my mom were holding my legs which was a big help! The nurse called out to the desk to have Momaw come in the room. The called for the baby delivery team and the doctor. He came in about 10 minutes before the baby was born. After 36 minutes of pushing Andrew announced we had a boy! Momaw rushed in the room as soon as Andrew announced he was a boy. We couldn't believe Baby Johnson was a boy! It was the biggest surprise of our life so far. I couldn't have done it without Andrew and my mom. They helped me through contractions and held my legs while I pushed! I feed Lincoln and after everything was cleaned up. Then my Dad, Corey, Popaw, Momaw Starcher, Barbara and John came into the room and Andrew announced we had a "Lincoln Willis Johnson".

Doctor Appointment
At my appointment this morning I didn't gain any weight! Baby Johnson's heartbeat was 140. Andrew asked the doctor how much he thought the baby weighed and Dr. Naegele said 7 1/2 to 8 pounds. He checked me and said he was going to send me over to be monitored. The nurse came in and hooked me up to see if I was having any contractions. She said I was 3 cm and 70% effaced. I was hooked up to the machine for about 30 minutes. Dr. Naegele said I was having some contractions but they wasn't regular. He told me to come back Thursday morning. All of the nurses were telling us to go home and get "busy" and go for a walk!
Also Joey (Jewell's husband) passed away yesterday. He had been battling cancer for almost a year. The visitation will be tomorrow evening and the funeral Thursday.

Doctor Appointment
I went to the doctor this morning. Andrew was able to go with me. The baby's heart beat was 157. I gained 7 pounds (total 38). I cannot believe I just typed that for everyone to see. The baby is still in the right position. Dr. Naegele said if I make it until my due date then we could start talking inducing. I told him I really didn't want to be induced and he said I could go all the way to 42 weeks if I want. So there is no way I should be pregnant after May 11th. I seriously doubt I would wait that long if I hadn't went into labor yet. Maybe a week over but that's about it. Hopefully Baby Johnson will decide to come out soon before any decisions like that have to be made. My next appointment is April 14.
Getting ready for Baby Johnson....
The last several weeks we have been cleaning and putting everything together. Andrew installed the car seat last weekend. My dad came over and helped Andrew put the other dresser together. I put the swing and bouncy seat in the living room. Momaw and my mom came over Friday night. My mom hung the pictures and momaw ironed the crib set. Once we know if Baby Johnson is boy or girl we will then put their name over the crib. Everyone keeps asking if we have names picked out. We do but we are waiting until the baby gets here to share the name! Only our immediate family knows the names we have picked out for boy or girl! Be patient only a few more weeks or less. Two hints- both first names have 7 letters & both contain the letter L and I. I will share one thing, if Baby Johnson is a boy the middle name will be Willis and if it is a girl the middle name will be Star.
